1. What are the hours of operation of SKK AYURVEDA?
The Center is functional all 7 days from 9 AM to 8 PM for Panchkarma therapies. Doctor’s consultation is available on specific timings with prior appointments. You need to book your therapy or consultation in advance by calling at front desk.
2. What is better,Ayurveda or Modern medicine ?
This is a matter of belief and choice. Both streams offer a very diverse form of treatment with unique benefits. Allopathy focuses on treating symptoms while Ayurveda chooses to uproot the ailment from its roots. Ayurveda provides holistic, natural and safe treatment and focuses on dosha balance in the body.
3. Will I need to turn vegetarian to take Ayurvedic treatment ?
No, this is notnecessary. You can use Ayurvedic medicines while on a non-veg diet, but, always discuss your diet preferences with your Ayurvedic doctor. There might be certain do’s and don’ts according to your body type and health condition.
4. Does SKK Ayurveda clinic provide home visit for the treatment ?
For Doctor’s consultation and panchkarmatreatments, patients have to visit clinic. However, you can call SKK Ayurveda front deskto arrange telephonic consultation with our doctors.
5. Do I need an appointment before visiting the clinic?
Yes, it is advisable that you book an appointment before visiting the clinic to avoid any last-minutehassles.
6. Does Ayurvedic Treatment have any side effects?
Just like conventional medicines, Ayurvedic treatments too can have side effects if not taken under the guidance of a recognized medical practitioner. To avoid such issues, it is very important to take treatments and medicines from the licensed practitioners and manufacturers respectively.

8. What are Panchkarma treatment?
Panchkarma means 5 actions for detoxification of body and restoring balance of Doshas.
- Vamana (therapeutic vomiting for excess kapha)
- Virechana(purgation-strong laxative for excess pitta and vata)
- Basti(medicated enemas for excess Vata)
- Raktamoksha(bloodletting-for excess pitta, periphery diseases)-when excess toxins are carried in the blood to peripheral areas, ie skin diseases
- Nasya(nasal oil-Head, neck areas, lingering doshas)-improves flow of prana, opens channels of the head, cleanses nasal tract and sinuses, helps allergic conditions
- Additional body treatments such as: Abhyangam (Warm ayurvedic oil treatment, Shirodhara(Streaming of warm oil on the forehead), Patra pindswed ( leaf bundle massage), Kati vasti, Janu vasti, Udwartanam ( herbal powder massage) etc.
9. What is Prakriti or Ayurvedic Body type?
The concept of Prakriti is unique and every person is born with a definite body type like genetic constitution.Depending upon Doshas, there are three major types of Prakriti, and these reflect predominance of that particular Dosha. Our body behaves according to the status of Dosha Prakriti.

There are seven possible Prakriti (constitution) types – a) Vata Prakriti b) Pitta Prakriti c) Kapha Prakriti d) Vata – Pitta Prakriti e) Vata – Kapha Prakriti f) Pitta – Kapha Prakriti g) Tridosha Prakriti
11. What are the modes of Ayurvedic treatment?
Instead of being disease-specific, Ayurvedic treatments are person-specific. Before providing a diagnosis, the patient’s age, living environment, social and cultural atmospheres, and body type are taken into consideration. Ayurvedic treatment aims to eradicate the root cause of the disease to provide permanent relief.
The criteria of treatment are Shodhan (Purificatory), NidanParivarjan (Avoidance of Causative and Precipitating Factors of Disease), Shaman (Palliative and Conservative), and PathyaVyavastha (Dos and Don’ts regarding Diets and Lifestyle). The Shodhan therapy comprises of Vamana (Medically Induced Emesis), Nasyam (Administration of Medicines via Nose), Vasti (Medicated Enema), Virechana (Medically Induced Laxation), and Raktmokshan (Blood Letting). All these therapeutic techniques are called Panchkarma. Besides, Snehan (Oleation) and Sweden (Getting Perspiration) must be first employed before implementing Panchkarma.
12. What is Panchkarma?
Panchakarma is a Sanskrit word that means "five actions" or "five treatments". This science of purifying the body is an ancient branch of Ayurveda. Panchakarma is the cornerstone to Ayurvedic management of disease. Pancha Karma is the process, which gets to the root cause of the problem and re-establishes the essential balance of 'Tridosha' (three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha) in body. Pancha Karma is not only good for alleviating disease but is also a useful tool in maintaining excellent health. Ayurveda advises undergoing Pancha Karma at the seasonal changes in order to clean the body and improve the digestion and metabolic processes.

15. What would the gender of my therapist be?
At SKK Ayurveda, in alignment with the Ayurvedic principles, we have a strict policy of allocating female therapists for women and male therapists for men. We do not provide any cross gender treatment.
16. How Ayurveda can help Treating Gynaecological disorders?
